Pick Up the Pen
A Modern Tanaga
Just like every runner
Kicks off on a starting block.
Every buoyant writer
Scraps from the same pool of words.
No matter how filthy rich,
No matter how damning poor,
You may not get the same cards,
But you’ll always have four suits.
The soil may not be so firm,
The grass may not be so green,
But the young, aspiring sprout
Will always come from the ground.
There is no greater squander,
Than leaving a glass half right.
Do not waste your privilege,
Go pick up the pen and write.
